Guided walk around historic Abingdon-on-Thames, claimed to be the oldest town in England. From the time of Aethelwold (943-63) when he was abbot of St Marys, Abingdon became a centre of religious and cultural life. Hear about St Helen’s church, the trading area of St Helen’s and the County Hall, important when Abingdon was the county town of Berkshire.
