Membership of AOUP

Membership of AOUP

All those who retire directly from working for the University are automatically Ordinary Members of the Association, as are their spouses, and both are eligible to join as Social Members. If you’ve retired directly from working for a College, you may not be an automatic AOUP member, but you and your spouse are eligible for Social Membership

For Social Membership there is an annual subscription, at present £5 per person, £10 for a couple. This entitles you and a guest to take part in a wide range of Social Events organised by the Association. These take place throughout the year.

Membership AOUP includes the following

Newsletter - for all members

The Association produces two newsletters each year, spring and autumn. Details of the summer trips are given in the spring issue and of the winter events in the autumn issue. All University Pensioners receive copies of the newsletter but College Pensioners only receive the newsletter if they enrol as Social Members.  Copies of the newsletter can be found on the news page

Winter Lectures - for all members

During the winter months, a Wednesday afternoon lecture is held each month in the Engineering Science Department, Banbury Road, on subjects of general interest. These talks are open to all AOUP members, Ordinary as well as Social and are followed by tea and cake.

Local Visits - for Social members

During the winter, a number of local visits are arranged for Social members, generally free of charge.

In December, there is a Carol Service and Christmas Lunch for Social Members and guests.

Summer Trips - for Social Members

During the summer months, from spring to autumn, there are a number of day or half day coach trips, to a variety of interesting places: historic towns or houses, gardens, castles, heritage sites, visitors' centres etc. The cost of these outings is subsidised by about 10%. Members can apply to bring a guest on all trips, although the full cost will be payable for the guest.
