William Morris had a profound effect on Oxford, turning it into a significant manufacturing centre and making major benefactions to health and to education. He assembled his first car in 1912 at his garage in Longwall Street. On this walk we will visit this and some of the other city-centre sites associated with Morris – buildings in which he repaired, made and sold bicycles, motorcycles and cars, and institutions which benefited from his incredible generosity.
