Witney has a long history of blanket-making, and the Blanket Hall was built in 1721 by the Company of Blanket Makers. For over 120 years, every blanket woven in the town came to the Hall to be weighed and measured, and upstairs in the Great Room the Company set the Rules for the Trade. After an introductory talk on the history of the Blanket Hall and the local woollen industry members will be free to explore the museum, which is spread over several floors of this old building; there is a lift to most but not all levels. On the ground floor there is a shop and a café.
