Dementia is a general term to group disorders caused by abnormal brain changes. These cause decline in cognitive functions like memory loss, language, perception, attention, constructional abilities, orientation, problem solving and functional abilities. It can also affect behaviours, feelings and relationships. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia. There is currently no cure for dementia but research has made good progress in recent years. This talk will explain the disease and describe the post-diagnostic support available.
